2016 CQ Regional Winner Building Designers Association of Queensland.
This Large Commercial project involved a lot of planning and design co-ordination. Due to the industrial location, site and size of the development we had certain rules and regulations that need to be complied with. We also had to work closely with the client to ensure the design met their needs. The final outcome was a large Workshop with an office to the front of the workshop. The workshop was to be large enough to allow for overhead cranes from the ceiling and large trucks to enter the workshop. The office was to be an architectural feature as it would be the ‘face’ of the leasing business. The office had a reception, office‘s, boardroom and amenities. The workshop had its own separate amenities and lunchroom for its staff.
Architectural features were added by custom designed steel awnings to the office and workshop facade. These features not only looked good, but provided added shade to the windows – helping keep the workshop cool. Gladstone drafting designed the building to be strong and durable, we designed the concrete panels to the office and lower half of the workshop and the steel structure of the workshop.
Special consideration was given to the design and layout of the sites landscape. The layout was to allow for the entering, exiting and turning of large trucks. It was also to include adequate parking for staff and visitors to the building.
