Keeling Court

The aim of this design was to achieve a livable home that could be adapted to any living situation, whether that be Mum, Dad and 3 grown adults or several professional couples living under the one roof. This was achieved by designing the floor plan into separate areas that could be closed off for privacy, yet easily accessed if privacy is not required. The master bedroom quarters were kept separate at one end of the house with all other bedrooms at the other. The walk-in-robe was made extra large to enable the space to also be used as an office if need be.

Central to the home was the dining, living and kitchen which overlooks the outdoor entertaining area. Also central to the home was a separate media room that could be shut off for privacy; particularly practical if several couples live in the home. The large size of the home enables bedroom 2 to have its own w.i.r and Ensuite, whilst bed 4 and bed 3 could easily access the separate toilet and bathroom. All bedrooms were made larger than normal to allow room for a TV unit and/or study desk. The master bedroom, bed 2 & bed 3 all had external access through the glass sliding doors onto the wrap around deck enabling different tenants to enter and exit with privacy.

The main feature of the home was the roof design. The home was divided into sections with a gable roof over each section, however the porch and deck roof were a raised a skillion. The raised skillion roofs enabled breezes to flow over the center roof from the front to the rear and onto the deck, whilst also adding interest to the homes appearance
